Every house is different, so every termite treatment is different. The vast majority of treatments that our termite treatment specialists complete in Alameda County, Contra Costa County and Solano County are for control of subterranean termites. This involves destroying all visible and accessible termite tubes. Termite treatments for subterranean termites include treating the soil beneath the structure along the foundation and pier-blocks; treating the exterior soil along the foundation; and drilling down through concrete slabs adjoining the foundation to treat the soil beneath the structure.
This subterranean termite treatment averages between 6 and 7 hours and does not require occupants to vacate their homes or businesses, though the treatment process can be a little noisy. The length of the warranty for this type of treatment varies from job to job, but we’re proud to offer one of the longest warranties among Bay Area termite control companies.
Such a long warranty is made possible by the skill of our treatment applicators and the quality of the materials we use. The most common chemicals we use when treating houses for subterranean termites are the top rated Termidor® HE, Boracare, and Premise Foam.
Fumigation for Drywood Termites and Powderpost Beetles
At Concord Termite Control, we recommend fumigation for drywood termites and powderpost beetle infestation. Fumigation is our primary recommendation for these types of infestations because of the nature of drywood termites and powderpost beetles, specifically their tendency to infest the hidden areas of a structure that are not visible by inspection.
Fumigation treatments are performed using Vikane gas. For drywood termite fumigation, the process takes 3 days. For powderpost beetle fumigation, the process takes 4 days. We remind owners and occupants that it takes approximately 10 days after a fumigation is complete for all termite activity to stop. Fumigation carries a three year warranty.
In the event that a fumigation is impractical, as it often is in multi-unit buildings, we perform localized treatments for drywood termites and powderpost beetles using Boracare and Premise Foam. This secondary measure is considered a substandard method, but is sometimes the only option available. This secondary method carries no warranty.
Dampwood Termite Treatments
When dealing with Dampwood termites, our most tried and true method involves stopping the source of the moisture that attracts the termites, treating the framing with Boracare and monitoring for future signs of infestation.
